Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) have been platonic friends for years. When they both find themselves in financial hot water, they hit upon the idea of making an adult film to bring in some easy money. But when “action” is called, these two friends discover that unspoken feelings for each other may threaten the whole enterprise. Writer-director Kevin Smith helms this comic look at the line between friendship and romance.

When my boyfriend suggested renting this video, I was incredibly hesitant due the title and the fact that it’s obviously a “guy movie.” But once we started watching it I was pleasantly surprised. The two main characters are incredibly lovable, and have great chemistry. Despite how ridiculous the plot is, you find yourself really getting into the story and rooting for Zach and Miri. Of course, the movie is very dirty and is definitely not for those who are easily grossed out or made uncomfortable by sexual references (there is one poop joke that the movie really could have gone without!), but despite how crude some of the jokes are, Zach and Miri Make a Porno was still very funny. It kept me laughing and even had a few “awww” moments. I loved this movie and would definitely suggest it.

Zak and Miri make a porno is a clever movie. It combines elements of a “rom com” that is interesting to girls, whilst also has the “gross out” jokes that are essential to a guys pleasure at a movie like this. As the name suggests, zak and miri, make a porno, with sexual scenes that could be offensive, are lightend by the jokes and also the chemistry that is felt by the two lead characters. I, however felt that the ending of this movie needed a bit of work… it seemed to me unfinished, and was let down by the credits roling. Zak and Miri make a porno – did they?
