The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

“I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be

Benjamin Button is a good, but not great movie with beautiful visuals and overall good storyline. I was not too sure what to expect since I decided to see the movie on short notice and had not read much about the story. Well, I loved the first half of the movie, but the last half was just okay. During the first half, I was engrossed by the uniqueness of the story and captivating scenes of the early 20th century. The first part had the charm and innocence of Forest Gump. The movie lost me as they developed the relationship with Kate Blanchett’s character. Their relationship was odd, cold, and not very sincere. The end was rather touching and worth sitting through the weaker part of the movie.

I just watched this movie recently. In the beginning the movie was good and the concept of a child looking like a old guy didn’t seem too absurd but by the end of the movie I was laughing! A grown person turning into a toddler or better yet a baby is physically and scientifically impossible. I think the middle was the best part, however a little sad. Bu I felt that a lot of different things and story plots were just squeezed in to make it interesting. Watch it if you are a fan f Brad but don’t expect too much from the movie. Now I know why the movie failed to get awards.
